Y'know, it's amazing how damned pretentious hardcore punk and metal band names and album titles have gotten in the last few years. They can make something like "Tales From Topographic Oceans" seem rather sensible in retrospect...I just like having fun making up song/album titles and band names in this style...ah, the amusing diversions come plentiful and cheap when I'm at work...
Anyway: those hands are from a picture that included a "DON'T WALK" sign in action. The fact that when I was manipulating them they lined up in such a way as to suggest someone fending off falling debris -- or blocking out a particularly bright light -- is just another in a long line of happy PhotoShop accidents.
Much of the background detail is from overhead guy wires and telephone lines and such...
and BTW, the font for the title "collapsing towers of faith" is called Bastard, and it came from Chank's Font Emporium, though I can't find it on his website anymore...
